Leg reshaping surgery is done to improve
the shape and appearance of the legs, to eliminate leg muscle damages resulting
from trauma or congenital physical and visual defects. If the patient
wishes to reduce the circumference of the legs in the areas of knees, ankles or
upper thighs, liposuction would be more appropriate.
Leg reshaping is performed by inserting an
implant above the upper thigh or lower thigh muscle and creating the desirable
shape of the muscle. The incision is made on the back of the knee joint to make
the scar less visible. The effect after surgery is lifelong. Leg plastic
surgery is carried out under general anaesthesia and is completely painless.
The patient must remain in hospital medical care for a day. Wounds heal in 1 to
2 weeks.
During the first month, it's advised to
limit physical activities that put great strain on the legs. The load on leg
muscles can be increased and restored gradually.
Thigh Lift is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper thighs. Often liposuction is required at the same time to achieve the desired outcome. This surgery can help those who have been left with excess skin following weight loss through diet and exercise, or following successful weight loss surgery. Surgery is not a weight loss treatment. If you plan to do lose more weight, then it is advisable to do so before having a thigh lift. The results of a thigh lift can be long lasting, providing you maintain a healthy weight.
Thigh lift surgery is carried out under a general anaesthetic and usually requires a one to two night stay in hospital.
Each
Thigh Lift procedure involves a slightly different procedure. Though all leave
small scars that are visible, most patients believe the small scars are worth
the improved appearance of their legs.
With
an Inner
Thigh Lift, an
incision is made at the junction of the thigh and the pubic area. Skin is
removed as well as fat, the skin is then tightened and stitched to improve the
overall contour of the thigh.
The Bilateral
Thigh Lift is performed with an incision at the top
of the leg, along the bikini line. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin
is lifted and tightened, resulting in tighter firmer skin on both sides of the
leg.
A Medial
Thigh Lift is done with an incision at the groin
that runs front to back to the crease of the buttock. Skin and excess fat are
removed, the skin is then lifted and stitched to create a clean contour.
SURGERY
Thigh lift surgery usually takes 2 to 3 hours to
perform, depending on the severity of your condition and the amount of
correction required. After you are properly anesthetized, Dr.Gönen will make
the incisions necessary for removal of excess skin and fat. Depending on the
amount of improvement you desire, this incision may extend all the way around
the thigh or only part of the way around the thigh in the groin crease between
the trunk and the thigh.
After the incision has been made, Dr.Gönen gently elevates the skin and fat off of the underlying muscles of the thighs. Dr.Gönen removes excess skin, fat and redrapes the skin over the underlying muscles. One or more drains may be placed beneath the incision. These slender, rubber tubes assist in draining any fluid that may accumulate beneath the incision and delay your healing.
The incisions are carefully closed in multiple layers of strong sutures to minimize your scar. Dr.Gönen uses a technique in which all of the sutures are placed beneath the skin and are absorbed by your body. Not having to undergo suture removal has improved patient comfort and satisfaction.
A sterile dressing is applied to the incisions and a compression garment is placed over your thighs. This compression garment helps support your legs during healing, decreases post-operative swelling and helps decrease any bruising that may occur.
AFTER SURGERY
Following your surgery, the thighs may be bruised, swollen and uncomfortable. Medication can alleviate the discomfort. You will need to wear special leg supports or a garment for several weeks after your surgery. Most patients return to work and other normal activities in 2 weeks after the operation.
Potential complications of thigh lift surgery may include infection, blood clots, and poor healing. Dr. Gonen will meet with you for a consultation in his office in Bakırköy and during that meeting he will review all of your options and explain the risks of the thigh lift procedure.
