Gluteoplasty is the liposculpture
procedures for the correction of the traumatic, congenital and acquired
defects/deformities of the buttocks, the anatomy of the gluteal region and for
the aesthetic enhancement (by augmentation or reduction) of the buttocks. While
many types of cosmetic procedures have been done for years, such as breast
implants, liposuction, facelifts, there are other types of surgery that have
recently gained popularity. Whether you have lost weight or are down by age or
need a body contouring, buttocks can really help you feel better about your
body shape. There are three kinds of procedures for buttock augmentation:
·
Buttock augmentation surgery involves implants which we insert
into the buttock area. Additional sculpting can be done as a part of this
procedure as well as hip implant insertion to create a more hourglass figure.
·
Buttock lifting can correct sagging or spreading buttocks.
·
Brazilian Butt Lift, is the most common gluteoplasty procedure we
perform and has a two–part process. First, liposuction is used to take away
fatty areas of the buttock. Then, we process and purify what we've
liposuctioned and inject it back into your buttocks to form a more attractive
look in that area.
Men and women who are unhappy with the size
and shape of their buttocks are prime candidates for this procedure. Patients
who have lost a significant amount of weight are also great candidates for this
procedure. After weight loss, patients are often left with an unflattering
'saggy' rear end. Buttock implants can help provide volume and lift the buttock
for a more appealing look.

Buttock
implants are made from semi-solid medical grade silicone. Unlike breast
implants, they cannot leak or rupture once implanted into the
body. Several types of implants are available for buttock enhancement. You
can choose from directional and non-directional implants.
·
Directional (or anatomical) implants are shaped similar to
a teardrop to provide more fullness along the mid-section of the buttocks.
·
Non-Directional (or round) implants provide patients with
uniform projection, creating fullness at both the top and mid-section of the
buttocks. Many patients prefer non-directional implants because in the event
that the implant rotates, the look will remain the same.
Patients
can also opt for custom made semi-solid silicone implants which are more
similar to non-directional implants.
Implants can either be smooth or
textured. Studies have shown no benefit of one over the other. Your
plastic surgeon Dr. Emre Gönen discuss which type of implant is best suited for
your body type and aesthetic goals.

Butt
Lift - A
buttock lift is performed by excising a pattern of skin extending from just
above the buttock in the tail bone region upwards to the lower back. When the
pattern is drawn together by sutures, the effect is to lift the buttock.
Buttock Augmentation (Implant) -
The whole procedure takes just about an hour or two to complete and patients
are put under general anesthesia which allows them to sleep throughout the
entire process. Once the patient is asleep, the surgeon makes an incision in
each buttock at the midline. The gluteus maximus muscle is then lifted up to
create space for the implant. After the implant is inserted, the surgeon
inspects both sides of the buttocks to make sure that they’re even. In some
cases, liposuction is done in the upper-outer section of the buttocks to create
a better silhouette for the patient. The incisions are then closed and dressed
and a compression bandage is wrapped around the area to keep the implants in
place while the wounds are healing and to reduce swelling.
Brazilian Buttock Augmentation - Brazilian Buttock Augmentation refers to a procedure that combines liposuction and fat transfer or fat grafting. Liposuction is used to both shape the perimeter of the buttock as well as to harvest fat from elsewhere in the patient’s body. This fat is then grafted to the buttock to augment and further shape the buttock.
AFTER
SURGERY
After
surgery, you may experience some swelling and soreness/pain around the surgical
area. The uncomfortable part of recovery lasts 7 to 10 days and pain
is controlled with medications. Gentle stretching exercises with knee raises
begin immediately after surgery. Your will remain on your stomach and sides for
the first 48 hours. Compression garments are worn for 2 to 3 weeks. Routine
activities may resume at two weeks and exercise started at 8 weeks post-op.
Recovery and healing will vary from patient to patient and depends on the
extent of surgery. Complete healing takes time and patience, taking
several months before appreciating the final results.
